 Today John and I had several small stressful issues to work through. Nothing big, just lots of little things that kept irritating both us. Kinda like a pebble in your shoe that is tiny but super annoying. Finally after lunch we both agreed we needed to get outside for a walk.

It’s crazy how changing your environment, breathing air and getting new energy can make such a difference in your attitude. I’m a believer that one of my biggest stress relievers is getting outdoors and soaking up God’s beautiful creation!

Yep, with everyday life comes everyday stress. And we all know what stress can do to our health. We were reminded of the importance of processing and releasing stress. We each have different ways of dealing with stress, do what comes naturally for you.

Healthy Stress Relief

The following practices can promote feeling lighter and more relaxed in day to day living.

Nourish

Nourish your body by filling your plate with a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, fats, proteins, grains, nuts and seeds rich I color, vitamins and minerals. Eating a nutritious diet will help stave off addition stress caused by symptoms of a poor diet.

Hydrate

Staying hydrated keeps all of your systems operating properly and keeps tress at bay.

Move

Exercise/movement of any kind, including stretching, has so many relaxing and mood-elevating benefits, including lowering stress hormone levels.

Get Outside

Going outside lowers stress hormone levels and activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which calms the body and mind. Meditate Cultivating a daily meditation or quiet time is one of the best ways to alleviate stress.

Disconnect

Spending too much time online can cause stress in numerous ways. Take some time each day to unplug from your phone, social media, TV and the internet.

Connect

Carve out some time each week to spend quality time with loved ones, friends or family, even if it’s just a phone call or face time. Sleep Sleeping more will keep your stress levels down. Shoot for eight to nine hours a night.

Practice Mindful Eating

Taking time to truly savor your food can help you get in touch with the things that matter. Enjoy a Cup of Tea Teas like peppermint, chamomile or lavender can help you ease tension. Taking the time to disconnect and truly enjoy the act of drinking your tea will take its benefits to the next level.

Use Essential Oils

Essential oils like Lavender, Roman Chamomile, Blue Tansy, Cedarwood, Frankincense, and Stress Away can promote relaxation. Use them during stretching, meditation or right before bed.
